Cranston, RI, Firefighters Injured in Flashover at House Fire
A flashover at a house fire Tuesday left three Cranston firefighters injured.
Cranston Assistant Fire Chief James Woyciechowski said firefighters initially struggled to pinpoint the location of the fire until they reached the second floor.
“When they opened that door, it flashed over on them,” Woyciechowski told WPRI.
The firefighters were transported to a hospital for treatment. One remained hospitalized Tuesday evening.
A defensive operation was established as part of the roof collapsed.
Woyciechowski said frigid temperatures made conditions more challenging, as water repeatedly froze.
The cause is under investigation.
