Owner of Burning House in Homer, NY, Punched Deputy

The woman, who refused to leave the scene, is facing numerous charges after assaulting a Cortland County deputy.

A woman, who refused to leave the scene as firefighters tried to stop a fire in her house, was arrested after she punched a deputy.

Kyna Malchak, 47, reportedly kicked a deputy in the stomach during the incident,  WSYR reported.

Another deputy also was transported for treatment for a leg injury after she was bitten by a dog. Both were later released.

Malchak was charged with second-degree assault, resisting arrest, obstructing government administration.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
