The person sitting behind the wheel in the Waymo was cited by San Antonio Police.
March 13, 2026

While San Antonio firefighters were operating at a house fire, a driverless vehicle entered the area.

The person sitting behind the wheel of the Waymo received a ticket for crossing the barriers and driving on the left side of the road, KENS 5 reported.

Although the company advertises the vehicles as driverless, there is someone sitting behind the wheel.

The incident was caused by human error, not a flaw in the automated vehicle, Waymo officials told a reporter.

There were no injuries.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control within 15 minutes.
