Residents Lining Streets to Honor Fallen Chicago Firefighter
People are lining Chicago streets this morning to honor a fallen firefighter.
A private funeral service for Chicago Firefighter/EMT Michael Altman was held Tuesday morning.
The service for Altman, who died battling a structure fire, was originally scheduled for last week. But, it was postponed when his wife went into labor, CBS reported.
She delivered a healthy girl, Evelyn Rose, on Thursday as the visitation for her
Chicago Fire Commissioner Annette Nance-Holt said at the gathering: “This support we have received is just amazing, truly amazing. The outpouring of love. We had a procession for an hour. It’s pouring down rain. I’m just so grateful."
While the funeral is by invitation-only people were asked to line the route from Oak Lawn to Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Alsip.
And, that's just what they did.
