Six Columbus, OH, Firefighters Seek Treatment for Smoke Inhalation
Six Columbus firefighters were hospitalized for smoke inhalation after operating at a building fire Tuesday morning.
The firefighters sought treatment after they started feeling symptoms of smoke inhalation hours after the former YMCA building filled with smoke during a fire in an underground vault, WSYX reported, adding all were expected to be released.
Heavy smoke from the vault seeped into the building's elevator shaft and spread.
A person was rescued from a scaffolding while another was trapped in an elevator in a different area of the structure that is under construction.
