A fire in Ellicott City left two firefighters with minor injuries Monday morning, Howard County first responders reported in a Facebook post.
At 6:40 a.m., the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services received multiple 911 calls for smoke in the Turf Valley area.
The smoke stemmed from the roof of a nearby townhouse in the 2600 block of Legends Way, according to the fire department. There was no one inside the home at the time.
After 30 minutes, the fire was under control, said the fire officials. Two firefighters were transported to the hospital with minor injuries, the department said; there were no other injuries.
The fire department had to work in a “defensive operation,” putting water onto the fire from the outside due to the extent of the fire and instability of the structure.
The Office of the Fire Marshal is investigating the origin and cause of the fire. The fire department requested Red Cross assistance for residents.
