Video: Chattahoochee, FL, Cop Fired after Tasing Seizure Victim, Arguing with EMS
A Chattahoochee Police officer has been fired for tasing a man experiencing a medical emergency and mistreating an EMS provider.
Caleb Johns said he called 9-1-1 after his brother, Dwight Jackson, suffered a seizure and fell down.
Jackson seized for about 10 minutes and was coming out of it when the ambulance crew arrived, WCTV reported.
"They are all still rendering aid to him, they are already holding him down, they pretty much got it under control. This is just now when he’s starting to come back to," Johns explained while reviewing the video with a reporter.
"And in that moment, that’s when (Sgt.)Price started. He shoves everyone out the way and jumps on top of Dwight,” Johns said.
Jackson says the experience left him terrified.
“I think the dude would kill me. I really feel like that would have either beat me up or tried to shoot me if that taser didn’t work the next time,” Jackson said, adding he wasn’t combative. He was experiencing a seizure.
The post-seizure patient was handcuffed and put in the back seat of the cruiser. He was later released.
Another video captured the officer involved in an altercation with an EMS crew member.
Police Chief Michael Miller said he fired the sergeant because his conduct and demeanor did not meet the department’s standards.
