From its origins in 1837 to present day, the Milwaukee Fire Department has continually looked to improve and expand its service to its community and its members. Its latest operational accomplishments include adoption of high-tech software and devices in conjunction with hazmat calls and firefighter training. Its willingness to cooperate with its members' union at an unprecedented level has delivered health and wellness efforts that build on an already solid foundation. Collaboration with neighboring agencies to overcome tradition, protectionism and political implications has created a shared services concept that saves the lives of more citizens and firefighters.
