The Sutphen SPH 100 | The Original Mid-Mount Aerial
Key Highlights
- In the 1960s, Sutphen Corporation designed and manufactured the fire industry’s first mid-mount aerial platform apparatus.
- Since then, Sutphen Corporation has been the industry leader in mid-mount aerial platforms for fire departments across the country and around the world.
- Today, the SPH 100 is Sutphen’s flagship product that can accommodate up to 500 gallons of water, over 300 cubic feet of compartment space, and much more.
Known for its unmatched storage space, aerial device strength, superior maneuverability, and customizable options, the Sutphen SPH 100 has long been regarded as the premier mid-mount aerial apparatus in the fire industry.
As Sutphen’s flagship product, the SPH 100 is engineered to meet the specific needs of each customer and to operate at any emergency scene.
“The SPH 100 is a very unique product and serves as a vital part of the frontline fleet for many of our customers across the country and around the world,” said Zach Rudy, Sutphen’s director of sales and marketing. “For customers who need a heavy-duty apparatus capable of withstanding the toughest conditions while still offering unparalleled flexibility on the fire ground, the SPH 100 is the best of both worlds.”
As a sole source manufacturer, Sutphen designs and builds every SPH 100 from the ground up. From the cab and chassis to the body and aerial device, each component of the SPH 100 is manufactured with the company’s signature quality and attention to detail.
In addition to manufacturing quality, Sutphen remains committed to supporting customers long after delivery. The family-owned company understands the importance of keeping apparatus in service and utilizes non-proprietary parts when possible.
“Our SPH 100 has consistently been a reliable apparatus that has gotten us to every scene we have been called to," said Ted Harris, captain at Lake Travis (TX) Fire Rescue.
Located outside of Austin, Texas, Lake Travis Fire Rescue has been a Sutphen customer for nearly a decade and currently operates multiple Sutphen pumpers along with an SPH 100. The department, which has a second SPH 100 on order, covers 104 square miles of dynamic topography including lakes, vast undeveloped areas and heavily populated residential communities. Currently, the district is serviced with six fully staffed and operating fire stations.
