For nearly 60 years, Sutphen Corporation’s custom chassis has been the benchmark of strength and durability across the fire industry.
In 1968, after recognizing the fire industry's need for a new, heavy-duty custom chassis, Sutphen Corporation combined their craftsmanship and dedication to innovation into a new product: the first-ever Sutphen custom chassis. Since then, Sutphen’s custom chassis design has transcended generations of Sutphen family leadership and has now evolved into Sutphen’s Monarch Extreme-Duty Chassis.
Today, the Monarch Extreme-Duty Chassis production line is housed at Sutphen’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Urbana, Ohio.
Built from the ground up, the Monarch Extreme-Duty Chassis is hand built with a Sutphen manufactured cab constructed of heavy wall 6061-T6 aluminum extrusions and heavy- duty aluminum plates.
“When you buy a Sutphen, you can count on the fact that each component of your truck will be ready to perform when it matters most, and that ability starts with Sutphen’s one and only Monarch Extreme-Duty Chassis,” said Zach Rudy, Director of Sales and Marketing at Sutphen.
Sutphen does not believe in offering a “lesser option” Rudy continued. Whether fire departments purchase a custom pumper or tandem axle aerial platform, Sutphen apparatus go to work with the Monarch Extreme-Duty Chassis.
As part of the standard process, all Monarch Extreme-Duty Chassis undergo a unique four-step paint process to fight corrosion. The process begins with bead blasting the frame rails and rail components. A layer of Cathacoat is then applied, followed by a primer coat. The chassis is finally finished with durable Imron paint, providing long-lasting protection and a high-quality finish.
“Every detail that goes into a Sutphen apparatus is a part of what we call the Sutphen Experience,” said Rudy. “Everything from the chassis that your department will use every day to the Sutphen post-sale service and family atmosphere, the Sutphen Experience brings an unmatched experience to our customers.”
