Vehicle Crashes into PA Fire Station's Apparatus Bay

Howard Fire Company's main station and two pieces of apparatus were damaged when a vehicle collided with the firehouse and injured the vehicle's driver.

A vehicle crashed into a Pennsylvania fire station Monday.

The accident happened shortly before 7 p.m. at the Howard Fire Company's Station 14, its main station in Howard Borough in Centre County, the department stated in an online update. Several members were in the station at the time with others on the way, but no firefighters were injured.

The collision damaged the overhead garage doors and a non-load bearing wall between the bay doors. Two pieces company apparatus suffered minor to moderate damage, and the vehicles were unable to exit the station because of the crash.

The driver of the vehicle that crashed into the station suffered minor injuries and was in stable condition, according to the department.

Repairs to the damaged apparatus and the building will be done in the coming weeks and months. Currently, all of the company's units are in service and able to respond, the department stated.
