There's not much left of one of the Vine Grove fire stations.

A fire -- possibly caused by a lightning strike -- destroyed three rigs including the department's pride and joy -- a 1941 engine, Chief Matt Haddle told WDRB.

A 3,000 gallon engine/tanker and a brush utility vehicle as well as all the department's supplies and equipment were destroyed.

The station was the smallest of three in town.

"This doesn't compromise any of our responses at all. So we will still be the Vine Grove fire department with the quick response time that we have."

A pink truck next to the station also was severely damaged. It was used in various breat cancer awareness events.

The loss is estimated to be about $1.5 million.
