Drone Donated to NOFD Through Grant Program

New Orleans, LA- On Thursday, October 19, 2023, the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) held a press conference to announce the award of a Mavic Pro Drone through the National Public Safety Drone Donation Program (NPS-DDP). Mark Langley, CEO of NPS-DDP, was on-hand to present the drone and Public Safety specific accessories to NOFD Superintendent Roman Nelson. NPS-DDP has also committed to providing drone operator instruction to an NOFD member allowing this member the receipt of Drone Pilot designation. During the presentation Superintendent Nelson noted that “the acquisition of this drone from NPS-DDP and related training will allow the New Orleans Fire Department the ability to complete reconnaissance operations in both hazardous and inaccessible environments without risking the safety of our members”.
