LAS VEGAS — September 29, 2021 — Today at the International Wireless Communications Expo (IWCE), Nextivity announced the expansion of its Emergency Responder Communications Enhancement Systems (ERCES) with the release of the Cel-Fi QUATRA RED Fiber Range Extender (FRE). This all-new accessory provides added flexibility and reach for Cel-Fi QUATRA RED ERCES Integrated Public Safety Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) installations by increasing the distance between Network Units (NU) and Coverage Units (CU) up to 1.4 kilometers (0.85 miles).
Compatible with all Cel-Fi QUATRA RED systems, FRE provides a cost-effective fiber alternative for installations in large coverage areas such as tall structures, campuses, and multi-building installations that rely on long fiber runs. The FRE leverages the technology in Nextivity’s lineup of fiber solutions (i.e., the Cel-Fi QUATRA 4000 Fiber Hub and Cel-Fi QUATRA Fiber Range Extender (QFRE), and uses optical fiber to significantly enhance the configuration options for QUATRA RED and extend its industry-leading performance without any signal loss.
The Cel-Fi QUATRA RED Fiber Range Extenders are available in a kit that includes an NU FRE, a CU FRE, and a power adapter. In addition to supporting single and multi-mode fiber configurations, the FRE connects to NUs and CUs via Cat5e cabling and provide multiple power options. FREs can be installed in a matter of weeks alongside a Cel-Fi QUATRA RED system to provide dependable emergency communications coverage across long distances.
Key features and benefits include:
- Fiber solution increases the distance between NU and CU by up to 1.4 km
- Versatile solution can be used with all Cel-Fi QUATRA RED system architectures
- Hybrid cable (FO + Copper) compatible
- Fire-rated NEMA enclosure
“The release of the Cel-Fi QUATRA RED Fiber Range Extender continues our commitment to expanding our public safety product line and fiber offerings. Our partners have asked that we deliver a solution for larger footprints, which created the need for fiber connectivity and increased reach, which we are delivering on today,” said Michiel Lotter, CEO of Nextivity. “The fiber product line offers our partners and installers more flexibility to tackle coverage issues in enterprise and remote locations that require public safety communications.”
