Panasonic Connect Releases Two Fully Rugged 2-in-1 Mobile Computers

Panasonic's TOUGHBOOK 34 and G3 are fully rugged, AI-ready mobile computers that are designed for emergency responders.

The TOUGHBOOK 34 and TOUGHBOOK G3 2-in-1 mobile devices are part of Panasonic Connect's expanded line of fully rugged computing devices. The two devices provide AI-ready performance, modular flexibility, advanced connectivity, and an intelligent user experience without adding complexity for IT teams. They are aimed at mission-critical workers in industries such as utilities, field services, public safety, federal, warehouse and distribution and automotive. For dependable, compliant operations from the first day of deployment, both the TOUGHBOOK 34 and TOUGHBOOK G3 have security and service options like TOUGHBOOK Total Defense. Furthermore, the new TOUGHBOOK 34 is now certified to run Red Hat Device Edge (RHEL), and the TOUGHBOOK G3 is currently undergoing certification, building on Panasonic Connect's status as the first rugged device manufacturer to obtain Red Hat Device Edge certification.

Organizations now have more computing options across roles, settings, and workflows thanks to the shared fundamental features of TOUGHBOOK 34 and TOUGHBOOK G3 in two different form factors.

With its larger 12.4-inch display than its predecessors, the TOUGHBOOK 34 offers more screen real estate for information-rich workflows while still being portable. The device has four modular expansion areas, including two user-replaceable xPAK sections, and an optional twin hot-swappable battery arrangement. It is intended for usage both inside and outside of vehicles or command centers.

Compared to previous versions, the TOUGHBOOK G3 sports a smaller 10.1-inch form factor in a lighter and thinner chassis. It provides portability for highly mobile workers and environments with limited space, such as federal employees transporting technology into the field, public safety professionals operating in smaller vehicles, and warehouse and logistics workers handling shipments and inventory. Three battery capacity options and two expansion sections with programmable I/O offer alternatives based on particular workflow and runtime requirements.

Intelligent and dependable mobile technology is required to empower employees and produce better results as digital transformation transforms vital industries.

Utilities & Field Services: TOUGHBOOK 34 and TOUGHBOOK G3 simplify asset tracking, work order administration, inspections, troubleshooting, field maintenance and repairs. The devices, which are powered by Intel Core Ultra processors, reduce the need for recurrent visits by combining edge computing and AI-ready capabilities to enable sophisticated diagnostics and remote repairs. When responding to outages, secure, dependable connectivity is made possible with support for 5G, CBRS and B106 private cellular networks. The TOUGHBOOK 34's auto-detect touchscreen can identify fingers or gloves, and both devices have digitizer pen functionality. Crews can remain productive in a variety of field settings thanks to IP65-rated designs, sunlight-readable displays, and optional hot-swappable batteries.

Public Safety: From any location, TOUGHBOOK 34 and TOUGHBOOK G3 enable mobile command operations, records management and in-vehicle dispatch. Maps, incident data, and reports are easier to view with less scrolling and navigation steps thanks to TOUGHBOOK 34's full HD outdoor-readable display, which allows for clearer default fonts and icons. In order to maintain real-time situational awareness and coordinate quicker, better-informed action, both devices support 5G and priority private networks, offering dependable upload speeds and field connectivity.

Federal: The TOUGHBOOK 34 and G3 operate between 14 degrees Fahrenheit and +122 degrees Fahrenheit and are tested in accordance with MIL-STD-810H/461G. Federal employees have access to mobile computing without sacrificing dependability or security, whether they are on a field assignment, coordinating command and control or carrying out emergency disaster response. The devices also support UAV ground control and unmanned systems control for field-deployed applications. The devices offer security and compliance capabilities for military and government workers operating across vehicles, field sites, and command posts thanks to TOUGHBOOK Total Defense, modular multi-factor authentication and a quick-release SSD intended to support data isolation.

Enterprise: With optional integrated barcode and RFID capabilities, TOUGHBOOK 34 and TOUGHBOOK G3 optimize inventory management, order picking, forklift operations, and asset tracking. Particularly in warehouse settings, flexible mounting and docking options that maximize current investments and facilitate deployment include backward compatibility with many accessories from earlier generations. With modular ports that may be customized for both current and legacy diagnostic instruments, the devices function as interconnected diagnostic hubs for vehicle maintenance and repair. While the compact TOUGHBOOK G3 enables portability for mobile diagnostics with hot-swappable batteries and strong connectivity supporting continuous operations and keeping repair teams coordinated, the bigger display of the TOUGHBOOK 34 offers more area for logs, schematics and visual data.

“The people that keep critical services and industries running need technology they can trust in every environment,” said Dominick Passanante, senior vice president and general manager, Mobility Business, Panasonic Connect North America. “The TOUGHBOOK 34 and TOUGHBOOK G3 are engineered to meet those demands by delivering the performance, connectivity and reliability that frontline workers depend on every day. The result is a device that keeps individuals and teams connected, productive and focused on the task at hand, whether they're in a vehicle, on a job site or responding to an emergency, all without compromising long-term reliability and security.”

Included from the start is a standard three-year factory warranty that lowers lifecycle support costs while safeguarding client investments.
