Euless firefighters weren't the first to arrive at an apartment fire. It was a drone.
And, based on what they saw -- fire coming through the roof of the building -- the incident commander called for a second-alarm.
Firefighters rescued a 96-year-old woman through a window. She suffered a burn on her hand. Transported to a hospital, she was in good condition, WFAA reported.
Drones -- housed at two fire stations -- can be launched by dispatchers or trained pilots. Both firefighters and police officers can request them
"It was a big, big help," Fire Chief Chance Bennett said.
The drone, barely six-months-old, is credited with helping Euless firefighters save a life.
