First responders, including firefighters, law enforcement, emergency medical services (EMS) and dispatch, can now use CheckIn Health's anonymous daily mental health check-in platform (usecheckin.app). The platform's goal is to capture users before, not after, a catastrophe arises.

Suicide deaths among first responders are more common than deaths in the line of duty. The gap between accessible services and actual utilization persists despite rising awareness and increased peer support initiatives. Culture is the obstacle, not access.

Every day, users perform quick check-ins that monitor their emotional trends over time. The system automatically notifies a pre-selected network of trusted contacts known as "LifeSavers" when it detects a significant change in a user's personal baseline or when someone stops checking in completely. This allows for early intervention before a crisis worsens.

There is no diagnosis on the platform. It detects. Users are never identified to their company or organization, and alerts are only sent to contacts the user has selected.

A web-based dashboard that shows trends and engagement patterns without ever jeopardizing individual privacy is available to department and organizational leadership, giving them population-level risk visibility across their whole team.

"We know first responders are struggling — the data is clear,” said Jeremy Tucker, Founder and CEO of CheckIn Health. “The problem isn't awareness, it's that the culture makes asking for help feel like a career risk. CheckIn removes that barrier entirely.”

CheckIn Health is intended to complement current peer support initiatives by providing department leadership, chaplains, and peer support teams with a passive early warning system that operates regardless of an individual's willingness to come forward on their own.
