A New York volunteer firefighter was injured Saturday when the apparatus he was in rolled over.
The accident happened at around 5:30 p.m. as Rockaway Point firefighters were responding to an emergency in the Breezy Point section of Queens, according to the department. In order to avoid another vehicle, the apparatus driver swerved, causing the rig to overturn.
"Thankfully, our members who were passengers of the Truck were not seriously injured and came out mostly unscathed with minor cuts and bruises," the department stated in an online update. "All members involved are doing very well."
One firefighter was taken to Community Hospital in Brooklyn, amNY reports. His injuries were not considered life-threatening.
The apparatus was heavily damaged in the accident. A spring on the vehicle had broken before the rollover happened, according to amNY.
