Nominees for 2025 Emergency Vehicle Technician of the Year Sought
The call for nominations for the 2025 Emergency Vehicle Technician of the Year Award (EVT).
The winner will be honored by Firehouse and Spartan Chassis during the 2025 Fire Truck Training Conference (FTTC) in September in Lansing, MI.
“Spartan Chassis has been a proud sponsor of the EVT Award since 2017. We look forward to honoring the 2025 winner at REV’s annual Fire Truck Training Conference in Lansing this fall”, said Chris McClung, vice president, REV Fire Group.
FTTC has been a key hands-on training event for EVTs industry-wide since 1999. It was launched by Spartan Motors and has evolved over the years. Today, it is sponsored by REV Fire Group and REV Ambulance Group, bringing EVTs to Lansing for five days of intense training.
The EVT of the Year Award was created in 2003 by Janet Wilmoth, to recognize the mechanics and vehicle technicians who she named "the unsung heroes behind operational fire, emergency apparatus and vehicles."
The idea for the award was borne from the decades of service she witnessed her brother, an Illinois-based EVT, and others dedicated to keep first responder vehicles on the road, ready to roll at a moment's notice.
"We are excited to once again partner with Spartan Chassis and REV to honor this year's Emergency Vehicle Technician of the Year Award at the FTTC," said Firehouse Editor-in-Chief Peter Matthews. "I have since witnessed the dedication the EVTs have to their community's apparatus and emergency vehicle fleets, 24/7, to keep the firefighters equipped to respond without concern. This award allows us to honor their dedication, which can be underestimated."
You can submit your EVT of the Year nomination here. The new platform allows you to begin the process, and return to complete the submission.
The deadline for submissions is July 15.
