The EMT suffered minor injuries when he jumped from a moving ambulance early Sunday after reporting to Philadelphia police that someone was stealing the vehicle while he was still inside.

An EMT in Philadelphia jumped out of the back of a moving ambulance when someone got into the driver’s seat and took it for a joy ride.

The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. Sunday when someone stole the ambulance from outside of the Jefferson Torresdale Hospital, Action News 6 ABC is reporting.

When the EMT realized someone had stolen the ambulance with him still in the back, he called 9-1-1 from his cellphone, then jumped out of the moving vehicle in the 10,000 block of Meadow Lane, reports indicate.

He was treated for cuts and bruises, and police soon found the ambulance in the parking lot of the Philadelphia Mills Shopping Center on Franklin Mills Circle.

The incident is under investigation.
