A 28-year-old man was killed when he collided with a North Carolina ambulance carrying a patient Wednesday, seriously injuring two EMTS.
The crash happened at around 8:40 p.m. as a Henderson County Rescue Squad ambulance was taking a seriously injured patient to the hospital, WSPA-TV reports. A Chevrolet Malibu traveling in the opposite direction at a high rate of speed crossed the center line and struck the ambulance.
The Malibu's driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Two EMTs were taken to the hospital in stable condition with serious injuries, and the patient they were transporting also was in stable condition.
"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of the driver who died," the rescue squad stated in an online update. "Please continue to pray for our personnel as well as the patient they were transporting."
