Oshkosh Airport Products to Show Electric ARFF at CES 2026
A Striker Volterra Electric 6x6 Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) vehicle will be on exhibit by Oshkosh Airport Products at CES 2026, which will take place in Las Vegas, NV, from Jan. 6–9. The apparatus won the CES "Best of Innovation" award for the Travel and Tourism category and is presently being used at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW). Oshkosh Corporation's stand in the Las Vegas Convention Center's West Hall will showcase one of DFW's Striker Volterra Electric ARFF vehicles.
Oshkosh Airport Products' dedication to innovation in electrification, connected technology, and firefighting is seen in the Striker Volterra Electric ARFF. Attendees at CES will see how the rig fits into the larger "Airport of the Future" that is showcased in the exhibit, along with technologies from other Oshkosh companies that serve future airports, communities, and workplaces.
“Participating in CES offers a unique opportunity to connect with audiences outside the traditional aviation community,” said Andy Mathes, General Manager and Business Unit Director, Oshkosh Airport Products. “DFW’s Striker Volterra Electric ARFF is an excellent example of how modern ARFF vehicles are helping airports advance emergency response while supporting operational and sustainability goals.”
An electro-mechanical infinitely variable gearbox and a proprietary Oshkosh electric drivetrain are elements of the Striker Volterra Electric ARFF vehicle now in use at DFW. Firefighter exposure to diesel exhaust is decreased by this layout, which permits zero emissions operation during station entry, standby, and low-speed mobility. Compared to a Striker ARFF with only an ICE, the integrated system can accelerate 28% faster by using both battery and internal combustion engine (ICE) power.
- Acceleration from 0–50 mph in under 21 seconds when fully loaded
- TAK-4 Independent Suspension for precise control and ride quality
- 3,000-gallon water tank
- 420-gallon foam tank
- 2,000-gpm water pump
- 500-lb. dry chemical powder system
- Oshkosh Eco-EFP Foam System
