Flames engulfed and destroyed a North Dakota apparatus as crews battled a brush fire over the weekend.
Williston Fire Department units responded to a wildfire just north of the city Saturday, KFYR-TV reports. Winds shifted, however, and the department's No. 3 brush fire apparatus caught fire.
Firefighters were able to safely escape the apparatus, but the emergency vehicle was considered total loss. Crews were able to get the brush fire under control by about 8:30 p.m.
Multiple departments—Grenora, Wild Rose, Alamo, Minot, Fairview, Epping, Ray, Tioga and Williams County/Williston Emergency Management—were part of the response. The cause of the brush fire is under investigation.
