Two Pedestrians Killed after WV Apparatus Backs Up at Fire

A Willamstown Volunteer Fire Company pumper/tanker struck a man and woman while responding to a structure fire near Reno, OH.

Two pedestrians died after a West Virginia fire apparatus struck them while backing up at the scene of a call Thursday.

The Williamstown Volunteer Fire Department responded to a structure fire near Reno, OH, just before 8 p.m., the Marietta Times reports. While at the scene, a Willlamstown pumper/tanker was backing up and struck a man and woman.

William A. Reed and Karolyn B. Reed, both 72, were injured and pronounced dead by the Washington County Coroner.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
