Fire Tanker Rollover Leaves Ingalls, OK, Firefighters Injured
Two firefighters were critically injured Thursday when their rig overtuned while they were returning from a call.
After the front steering tire suffered a 'catastrophic failure,' the tanker crashed through a guardrail, rolled over several times and came to rest in a wooded area about 10 miles from Stillwater, KOCO reported.
Both firefighters, who were trapped in the overturned tanker, were alert.
"One firefighter was able to be removed with the assistance of Good Samaritans who immediately stopped to help, while the second firefighter was extricated by the Stillwater Fire Department.
One firefighter was transported by helicopter, and the second was transported by ambulance under emergency conditions to a Level I Trauma Center in Tulsa," Ingalls fire officials posted on Facebook.
The names of the injured firefighters have not been released.
