FFs, TX Teen Hospitalized When Car Strikes 'Blocker' Apparatus

A girl, 15, was seriously injured and four Houston firefighters aboard a "blocker" apparatus suffered minor injuries when a BMW struck the rig, which had responded to an earlier hit-and-run crash.

Four Houston firefighters were among those injured when the apparatus they were in was struck by a car while working the scene of a previous accident late Sunday.

Crews had responded to an initial hit-and-run crash at around 9:30 p.m. in the southbound lanes of the Gulf Freeway in southeast Houston, KPRC-TV reports. For precautionary purposes, they used an apparatus with four firefighters aboard as a "blocker" vehicle 

The "blocker" apparatus was in place when it was struck by a BWM, according to KHOU-TV. The firefighters in the apparatus were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The BMW's 15-year-old passenger was seriously injured in the crash, but she was expected to recover. Police are investigating the crash, but no charges have been filed yet in the incident, KHOU added.
