Salina, KS, Fire Department Getting Seven New Fire Trucks

Feb. 16, 2024
It will take nine to 15 months for the apparatus to arrive, Fire Chief Tony Sneidar Jr. said.

There aren't one or two new fire engines coming to Salina Fire Department. There are seven.

The city approved $9 million this week to buy them.

“The better understanding they have of what we do and what we need to do it. It makes it helpful for us. And it just worked out to where everybody was communicating,” Fire Chief Tony Sneidar, Jr. told KSNW

Plans for the new trucks have been in the works for a few years as it was getting more difficult to repair some in their current fleet including two that are 35 years old.

It will take from nine to 15 months for the rigs to get to town. They will keep the current trucks for reserves or sell them, the chief said.
