Washington D.C. Firefighter Struck by Fire Apparatus at Scene
A D.C. Fire and EMS firefighter was flown to the hospital after being struck by a ladder truck Thursday.
D.C. firefighters were dispatched for a possible structure fire at 1:49 p.m. on Galveston Street Southwest.
"While on scene, a firefighter was struck by a ladder truck and sustained a serious injury," the fire department shared on X.
The department said the crews treated the firefighter on scene then transported the member, by helicopter, to a trauma center.
The firefighter was listed in stable condition, according to an update later Thursday afternoon.
The Metropolitan Police Department and fire department are investigating what led to the incident.
