A California fire department will honor two firefighters who died battling a library fire last year with an online memorial ceremonyThursday.
Porterville Fire Capt. Ramon Figueroa, 35, and firefighter Patrick Jones, 25, were killed in a Feb. 18, 2020, blaze that investigators believed was intentionally set. Two teens face two counts of murder, with special circumstances of multiple murders, and arson-related charges.

The virtual memorial will begin streaming on the department's Facebook at 4 p.m. PST, and it is being held online because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The video will include an Honor Guard Ceremony, along with speeches from the Fire Chief Dave LaPere, family members and community leaders. Porterville fire station also will hold a moment of silence at 4:16 p.m., the time the firefighters entered the burning library.
Figueroa grew up in Delano and had worked for the fire department for 13 years. Jones, who was engaged to be married at the time of his death, had served the department for three years.
