Registration Open for Annual 9/11 Stair Climb at Lambeau Field

Registration is open for the NFFF and Pierce Manufacturing 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb at Lambeau Field on Sept. 12, 2026, commemorating 25 years since the tragic incident.

The 14th annual 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, WI, is already accepting registrations, according to Pierce Manufacturing. This year's climb, which is co-sponsored by Pierce Manufacturing and the Green Bay Metro Fire Department, will take place on Saturday, September 12, 2026, commemorating 25 years after the terrorist events of September 11, 2001. All proceeds from the event, which is open to everyone who wants to remember the 343 firemen who lost their life, will go to the National Fallen firemen Foundation (NFFF). Early registration at piercemfg.com/climb is urged for participants.

"This year marks 25 years since 9/11, which is a day that carries deep meaning for the fire service and communities across the country,” said Assistant Chief Ray Fuiten of the Green Bay Metro Fire Department. “The 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb is a powerful way for us to come together, reflect and honor the 343 firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice. We are committed to making this year’s event the most impactful yet, ensuring their legacy continues to inspire future generations.”

The 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb at Lambeau Field is one of the biggest stair climb competitions in the country, and it keeps getting bigger every year. Along with their relatives, friends, and allies, over 2,000 members of the fire service community came together in 2025 to pay tribute to the deceased and raise money for the NFFF. The organizers want the 2026 event to be the biggest and most attended in its history in honor of the 25th anniversary.

Participants ascend 110 stories, or the height of the World Trade Center towers, on Lambeau Field's steps during the event. To symbolically complete the brave journey, each climber wears an honor badge with the name and picture of a fallen firefighter. Climbers will ring a fire bell in mournful remembrance when they reach the equivalent of the 78th story, the highest point firemen reached on 9/11.

“The 25th observance of 9/11 is a moment of reflection, remembrance and unity,” said Assistant Chief Eric Jeltema of the Green Bay Metro Fire Department. “This climb is more than a physical challenge; it’s a deeply personal experience that connects participants to the bravery and sacrifice of those we honor. We encourage the entire community to join us in making this year’s event the largest and most meaningful yet.”

  • Registration Fees: $35 per climber through July 11, $40 from July 12-Aug. 15 and $45 Aug.16 through event day.
