H2M architects + engineers Redesign Eisenhower Park Sept. 11 Memorial
On Sept. 20, H2M architects + engineers attended the official rededication ceremony of a new 9/11 Memorial in Eisenhower Park alongside the Nassau County, NY, Firefighters Memorial Endowment Association, scores of local firefighters and community residents.
The memorial offers a significant space for contemplation and remembrance of the courageous people who gave their lives in reaction to the events of Sept. 11. Additionally, it recognizes those who have died from illnesses related to 9/11, with room set aside to honor those who may sadly die from these ailments in the years to come. In order to help complete the project with care, quality and attention to detail, H2M provided extensive architectural and engineering services.
An outdoor plaza with a black granite memorial in the middle was part of the proposal. H2M created comprehensive site and floor drawings as well as the structural underpinnings for the monument's components and related benches. Custom paver patterns, landscaping, electrical system design, land surveying and construction-related services were among the other services offered by the company.
The project, which was finished in little over two months on an accelerated timeframe, required excellent teamwork, close coordination and clear communication from all parties involved.
