Pelican Products is excited to share the first winning images in its Portraits of Protection photo competition, honoring the real-life heroes in our communities!
Los Angeles-based US Forest Service firefighter Zachary Hanson was photographed by@chrismatography while fighting the Saddleridge Fire on an engine out of Santa Clarita, CA, during a 36-hour shift. The photos capture Zach and his engine providing structure protection to a group of homes in Sylmar, which they were able to successfully defend over the course of several hours. Pelican selected the images as a perfect representation of the heroes protecting us every day.
Portraits of Protection was created to bring together Pelican’s photographer and first responder communities to immortalize heroes who’ve stepped forward in the face of danger. Each month, the most moving and visually interesting photos of either heroism in action, or the faces of heroes, will be selected as winners and featured on Pelican Products’ social media channels. The winning photographers and featured heroes will each receive their choice of $500 in Pelican gear.
