The items from the Kansas Firefighters Museum in Wichita, which included antique extinguishers, nozzles and sprinkler heads, were in a storage area that was burglarized.

Several thousand dollars worth of antiques and gift shop items were recently stolen from the Kansas Firefighters Museum, Wichita police said.

The items were in storage at the museum, 1300 S. Broadway, and the burglary occurred sometime between March 10-17, Wichita police Officer Kevin Wheeler said in an email. The items included antique extinguishers, nozzles and sprinkler heads, and gift-shop items, Wheeler and the museum said.

“Also if you see someone melting down said items or trying to unload large amounts of brass contact the police or the museum,” the museum wrote on Facebook. “Extremely sad, the retired guys that run the (museum) work their butts off to run that place.”

Anyone with information about the burglary can contact detectives at 316-268-4407.
