Officials’ in Hall County are acting on the recommendations of a consultant and will spend up to $300,000 on a rebranding effort of the fire department’s public-facing image.
The consultant, along with an internal committee representing department personnel, worked to address weaknesses and strengths of the organization.
Department members were looking to have their organization be more reflective of the services they provide the community including more focus on EMS services, according to a statement from the county.
The group agreed that the new name will be Hall County Fire Rescue to reflect the various services provided by the department. Officials said 70 percent of the calls are for medical services.
“A rebranding effort like this one should never come just from the fire chief but should be an inclusive process involving all of its members,” Fire Chief Christ Armstrong said. “We really wanted the men and women of the department to take ownership of this process and give them a voice in the organization—that’s part of the culture change we are looking for.”
The committee was able to provide a new purpose statement, vision statement and developed a set of virtues for the department.
Funds will be allocated toward uniform upgrades, station and vehicle identifiers and social media platforms.
