UT Firefighters Accused of Boycotting Calls and Shifts

North Summit Fire District volunteer firefighters face suspension for refusing to respond to calls or work shifts.

Volunteer firefighters with the North Summit Fire District are facing possible suspension after allegations that they boycotted shifts and refused to answer emergency calls.

North Summit Fire District board members plan to suspend all of its firefighters after learning about the allegations at a recent meeting.

Board members said several firefighters recently refused to work shifts and disobeyed direct orders, according to Fox13Now. This included a firefighter who reportedly refused to respond to an accidental shooting in Echo Canyon that claimed the life of a 58-year-old woman.

It is believed that eight of the 25 volunteers are involved in the so-called insubordination.

The board have worked out a temporary solution to have the Park City Fire District provide coverage while they continue to discuss the situation. 

The fire district protects is located near the Wyoming border and protects the of Coalville, Echo, Henefer, Hoytsville, Upton and Wanship,
