Champaign firefighters posed with a dozen new babies born in the last 12 months to fire department members.
The Champaign Fire Department has experienced a baby boom over the past 12 months, with a dozen babies being born into the fire department family.
In a recent post by the Champaign Fire Department, smiling members posed with their new babies.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Champaign’s firefighters have worked extra hard and put in a lot of overtime the past couple of years, Deputy Chief Tyler Funk, told The News-Gazette.
Posting pictures of the firefighters with their new babies was something of a tribute to the sacrifices their families make so they can do their jobs, Funk said.
