After calling members of the Nashville Metro council "white supremacists," a Nashville firefighter was given a suspension.
On Feb. 2, Joshua Lipscomb tweeted " I hate feeding into the illusion that America's government and existence is legitimate so im no fan of voting. But the majority of Nashville city council is white supremacists. I know its boring but millennials HAVE to start caring about local elections. These folks want us dead."
The next day, the fire department was notified of the tweet and, in a Feb. 22 letter, Lipscomb was notified of a 16-day suspension, according to Fox17.com.
He requested a review from the disciplinary board, which found him guilty of violating three civil service policies, including conduct unbecoming of a government employee.
Lipscomb, who is also a comedian that goes by Josh Black, received an eight-day suspension for improper conduct via social media in November 2020.
According to the television station, Lipscomb posted a phone conversation with a local business in which he was accused of harassing.
"As an employee, your recent comments on social media were a poor reflection on the Nashville Fire Department and the Metropolitan Government in ways that cause disruption to the department and undermine its mission," Nashville Fire Director Chief William Swan wrote to Lipscomb.
