May 28—An Odessa firefighter is on unpaid administrative leave after being accused of seducing a teenager he was teaching at Odessa College.
According to an Odessa Police Department report, a 17-year-old girl told her parents on May 13 that a long-term sexual relationship she'd had with Cory Shane Castillo, 33, had just come to an end.
The girl had met Castillo while taking the dual enrollment EMT and firefighter course the Odessa Fire Rescue employee was teaching at Odessa College, the report stated.
According to the report, the girl told a forensic interviewer their relationship began in November 2023.
A search warrant was obtained for Castillo's phone and investigators found a video, photographs and texts that confirmed the girl's story of a sexual relationship, the report stated.
Castillo resigned his position from OC the day after the girl's parents went to the police and he was placed on leave from the city after OFR officials learned of the investigation.
He was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault of a child, child grooming and possession of child pornography May 22. He was released from the Ector County jail after posting surety bonds totaling $265,000.
