A judge acquitted a Montgomery County fire captain of charges in connection to flooding a baseball field.

Capt. Christopher Reilly was acquitted of malicious destruction of property and disorderly conduct during a hearing Friday in Montgomery County District Court.

The charges against Firefighter Alan Barnes were dismissed by the Montgomery County State's Attorney's Office, WRC reported.

In July, Barnes backed the engine out of the station on University Boulevard and video shows Reilly standing on top of the engine, spraying the field for approximately three minutes. Thousands of gallons of water saturated the diamond.

Reilly told two players who went to the station to complain: “I wanted to get your attention.”

While the criminal charges have been handled, they still face possible sanctions from the department.

"With the criminal case resolved, our internal administrative process will move forward," Duty status remains unchanged, non public contact, pending that review," Montgomery County Fire Rescue Public Information Officer Pete Piringer wrote in a statement.
