A man was sentenced Monday to 11 years in prison, minus time served, for a DUI crash that killed a retired Kern County firefighter last year.

Lorenzo Alonzo, a fourth-time drunk-driving offender, was intoxicated when he ran a red light in August 2016 and struck and killed 81-year-old former firefighter Melvin McLaughlin.
