A man who claimed to be a firefighter took thousands of dollars worth of goods after he told the homeowner to evacuate.
According to CBS LA, he suspect knocked on the homeowner's door and told him that he need to leave the are due to the oncoming wildfire.
The homeowner and his wife headed to a nearby hotel for the night.
When they returned the next day, the wife's jewelry box was open and thousands of dollars worth of jewelry was missing.
A neighbor's security video captured the moment when the suspect was leaving the house and the homeowner is certain it was the same man.
The Riverside County Sheriff's Department told CBS LA that it has received at least two reports of robberies in the last week following evacuation orders in Hemet due to the Fairview Fire.
"There's people impersonating safety personnel. It's bothersome to me wearing firefighter gear you can't trust anybody now," said the homeowner.
