The former Grand Bay Fire Chief is under investigation by the Alabama Attorney General's Office for allegedly forging fire certificates he used to get the job.
Richard Firth's tenure in Grand Bay was short-lived. He was appointed on April 28 last year, and suspended eight days later after it was discovered there was a misdemeanor theft warrant out for him, WPMI reported.
Also, the fire board discovered the fire certifications were bogus.
While he claimed to have 20 firefighting and safety certifications. only one of them was actually valid, according to the Alabama Fire College,
The station reported it was those certificates that the investigator was asking about. Specifically, they wanted to know how they were submitted and where they were kept.
The reporter added that a person said it was unfortunate that Firth submitted the certifications. He likely would've gotten it anyway.
