Pittsburgh’s longtime fire chief has been placed on paid leave, public safety officials said Monday.
Chief Darryl Jones, who has led the bureau since 2007, is on paid administrative leave “pending the outcome of an internal review,” said spokeswoman Emily Bourne.
“Beyond that,” she said, “we cannot comment on personnel matters.”
A source not authorized to speak publicly about the internal investigation told the Post-Gazette that the issue is not criminal in nature, but rather pertains to management of bureau operations.
It was not immediately clear how long the Office of Municipal Investigations’ review might take. Assistant Chief Matt Davis has been made acting chief in the interim.
