Interim Fire Chief in Richfield Township, OH, Accused of Taking Drugs from Patient
The interim Richfield Township fire chief, accused of taking drugs from a patient, has a previous history of doing the same thing.
The latest accusation came after Ryan Sedlock's wife found an empty bottle of hydrocodone -- with someone else's name on it -- in their garage. She was able to confirm that her husband had treated the woman on Sept. 15, WTOL reported.
Neither the township nor the fire department has said whether Sedlock has been placed on leave.
While working for the Sylvania Township Fire Department in 2023, he was charged and admitted to two counts of felony theft involving drugs that belonged to a patient.
Just five months after resigning from Sylvania Township, Sedlock applied for a position with the Richfield Township Fire Department. He was hired five days later.
He was promoted to captain while on probation from the criminal case in Sylvania Township.
While officials will not say if they knew about the charges, Sedlock acknowledged on his application that a background check would be conducted.
