U.S. Fire Administrator's Summit on Fire Prevention Postponed Again
The U.S. Fire Administrator's Summit on Fire Prevention and Control -- set for Feb. 4 -- has been postponed, again.
The one-day event was slated to be held on the National Fire Academy campus in Emmitsburg, MD.
In an e-mail to registrants Friday afternoon, organizers from the U.S. Fire Administration and the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation wrote: "The summit has been postponed for the time being. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We look forward to welcoming national fire service leaders and federal government representatives later this year. The new date will be announced on the event website as soon as it is confirmed."
During previous events, fire and EMS personnel as well as subject matter experts discussed topics including community risk reduction, emergency operations, training and competency as well as health, wellness, and safety and survival.
The annual summit, originally planned for Oct. 7, was postponed due to the federal government shutdown. It lasted 43 days, making it the longest in history.
Congress now has until Jan. 30 to pass a measure to fund the government.
President Trump said Thursday another shutdown is likely.
