As part of a community risk reduction program, line firefighters who are trained in basic fire codes and inspections can be the eyes and ears of their fire marshal’s office regarding the risks and hazards that they see in the course of responding daily to emergencies within the community. This helps the limited number of fire inspectors focus on buildings that present the most risk to the community.
