Three Dead, Three Hurt in Mobile Home Fire in East Palatka, FL

Investigators were continuing to comb through debris in search of victims after a fire killed three people and injured three others, including a firefighter, according to investigators in North Florida.
Identities of the dead and injured have not been released.The dead were identified as a 4-year-old and two men, WCJB reports.
The fire erupted Monday, May 12, at a mobile home on North Maryland Avenue in East Palatka, about a 60-mile drive south of Jacksonville.
“We can confirm 3 deaths at this time. Three more were taken by ambulance from the scene to a trauma center for burn injuries,” the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
“The State Fire Marshal’s Office is responding to the area for the investigation and detectives are assisting. At this time the cause of the fire is unknown.”
The family renting the home told WJXT that six people were inside when then the fire started, and the survivors are “a 7-year-old girl, Eliza, a 1-year-old child, and the mother of one of the children, Carolina Gomez.”
The three survivors were “rescued” from the burning home by first responders, Putnam County Fire Rescue reports.
“One firefighter was injured and transported. Sustained minor injuries and is OK,” the department said. “Crews are searching the home for more victims.”
