Couple Killed in Harford County, MD, House Fire

No smoke alarms were found by Joppa Magnolia firefighters who handled the incident.

Investigators with the Maryland fire marshals office are continuing their probe of a house fire in Harford County that claimed an elderly couple.

Residents called 9-1-1 Wednesday after finding their neighbors' house on fire.

A Joppa Magnolia fire officer and a Harford County deputy found a man just inside the the door, and pulled him out, according to the Maryland State Fire Marshal.

A woman was located by firefighters, who brought her outside.

W. Cliff Long, 82, and Miriam Edgerley Long, 81, died in the fire.

No smoke alarms were found in the house.
