An explosion and fire that left four houses in Camby damaged has been deemed suspicious.

Madison Township firefighters encountered heavy fire from one house and the blaze spreading to others, WTHR reported.

"This fire does appear to be suspicious in nature, but it does appear to be an isolated event," Madison Township Firefighter Brandon Perry wrote in a release.

Lisa and Freddie Harmon, who lived in the house with their son, were camping when the fire started early Sunday morning.

"This wasn't an accident, and where you see half of the house gone, that was our bedroom," Harmon said.

Smoke alarms and a concerned neighbor, Travis, warned people about the fire.

"If it weren't for him, ain't no telling how many lives (could) have been gone because everybody said that he woke them up and got them out."

ATF investigators surveyed the scene along with deputies from the Morgan County Sheriffs Office.
