Jan. 27, 2026

Without hesitation, a neighbor ran into a burning building to save an 85-year-old woman. Heavy fire, however, prevented the rescue of her husband.

Philadelphia firefighters lauded the neighbor's actions, saying the victim would have perished. Both were taken to a hospital for smoke inhalation.

Crews, who encountered heavy fire in the two-story house, were unable to rescue the 87-year-old man in the basement before the structure collapsed, CBS Philly reported.

No firefighters were injured during the operation that occurred in bitter temperatures.
